Kewford 4 :2 Sutton Coldfield Town FC

4 Sep 2016 by Chris Tidman

Kewford came through a tough game against a strong SCFC side which at 2:2, could have gone either way. After taking a 2:0 lead from a brilliant brace by Ryan, it could have been many more, but Kewford ended the first half in control, with sweeper keeper Tom mopping up any balls played through the defence. Against the run of play, SCFC scored an excellent goal from a corner and then Kewford were rocking for 10 minutes, culminating in a deserved equaliser. Phippy then stepped up a level and drove a rocket shot of a left footer low into the net. The fourth and final goal to seal it was memorable, with Phippy flying down the left and floating an inch perfect cross for Ben to head the ball over the keeper. Great spirit and determination epitomised by Tyrese flying into tackles in the 80th minute. Kewford finally win their first game of the season and march into the next round of the cup.
Votes for the team, Tom, Phippy 3, Chad 4, Ryan 5 so man of the match goes to Ryan for a strong all round centre forward display
